Computerland - Axim nearly gets axed
Alex | September 22, 2006I suppose the trick with these inanimate objects is to surprise them. I
thought about fine wines and Belgian chocolates followed by the finest
restaurant in town (Swiss Tony thought this was the best option), but I
looked at the prices and just couldn’t bring myself to do it. So I did a
naughty thing. I downloaded the WM5 ROM for the X50V and the antidote to
take it back to WM2003SE. When the little sod wasn’t looking I gave it a
shot up the unmentionables with a nasty piece of software that was bound to
smart a bit, followed by a soothing return to familiarity. I like to call
this the ‘So you think you’re in charge….really’ routine
I think I showed that whilst I am the omnipotent lord and master of all my
technical kingdom (My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!) and no coups will be tolerated.
I am also compassionate against those who have thoughts against the good of
the whole. Call it a humbling experience for a misbehaving gadget. I’ll be
being nice too and will give it the latest Hubdog to play with when it’s
released.

Computerland - Axim does my swede
Alex | September 21, 2006I bought my Axim because I wanted one. Not because I fel for the subtle advertising or just had no will power but sometimes I love it and sometimes I could give it a good pasting and not be bothered. Guess what kind of mood I’m in today……
If I have to reset this thing one more time…hard or soft then it’s going to get a stiff ignoring for as long as I can stand it!
Urchin - A week to go till my world gets smaller
Alex | September 20, 2006One more week to go and she’ll be overdue. I can’t wait although I’m not really looking forward to day 3! Here’s hoping Julie is on duty when we go in
Invention Corner - Spilt milk
Alex |There is always a chance that if you do work involving sharp stuff that one day you’ll find that it can bite. A few days ago I replaced the blade on my trusty craft knife for a lovely sharp one that just cut through foamboard like a hot knife through butter. It also makes light work of skin!
Just a small slip and I gave myself a lovely deep cut on me left index finger. Still it did stop gushing eventually. I’m embarrased to say that after an hour and still no sign of a slow down, I had to call in the cavalry to give me some fatherly advice and a proper dressing. I better get this funding.
Next stop fibreglass…..god knows what’ll happen with that stuff.
Glasses…check
Face mask….check
Gloves…check
Sharp object…..stay away!
