My son is a web developer and he is really happy with how stable Win7 is and has a large number of operating systems including Ubuntu and all the Windows flavours from Win95 to Vista running under the virtual machine. He says some Win95/8 software is more stable under VM than it was on a dedicated machine. Have you thought about running Windows 7 and using the virtual machine to run Ubuntu?
