Bass week

All of the above have made it a difficult week. My lack of ability gave me a 28th out of 46th over the whole 16 race where I managed to get in 5 races and 2 retirements. Once for a broken clew tie down and the second down to the 4 dunkings I got on one leg, not surprisingly a run. Still I did manage to almost hit the laser logo on one of the ‘offs’ just goes to show the power in the wind by throwing a 85Kg man 3 metres through the air!

The bruises on my shines have nearly gone, the one on my forearm has turned a lovely green colour and the chunk that is missing from my right hand is growing back nicely. All things considered quite injury free.

I was stopped today by somone who at the moment will remain anonymous, but he was pretty excited to tell me that I’d won the Night Jar race series. I had a look on the website (http://www.bassenthwaite-sc.org.uk/) but couldn’t see the results. I don’t think he’d tell me a bunch of porkies, just cos he couldn’t catch me but I’m secretly hoping it’s true.

Fingers crossed then!

‘Thursday night, Night Jar A finished last week. Overall winner was Mike Turner and Sue Watson in a GP. Mike had done two OD duties during the series, but only needed to count one to win. Ginge was second. Alex Hill (Laser) was third overall and wins the laser/handicap trophy. Tim Smith wins the mirrors and Keith Thomas the Flying Fifteens. In all 44 helms took part over 10 races (two races were abandoned before they were started due to high winds).’

The Laser/Handicap trophy is mine, my first piece of silverware since the Unwin cup for sporting perserverance. What a proud moment. I think I’ll go home early
