Shack Time

My shack was getting a bit over run, so every time I went to do something there was stuff everywhere. I have a half thought out project to use SDRBerry for both a TX and an RX with the Airpsy HF Discovery I have (an amazing bit of kit btw) and a bunch of things that either needed to be properly finished off or binned. That way I can make a bit of space on the dek and get back to doing a bit of radio.

A few weeks ago i helped clear a bunch of antennas at a friends house who was moving out and he couldn’t do them himself. In th ehouse was a mass of ‘important’ stuff. Things he’d collected, kept and probably hadn’t used in a while. I’ve starte dto fall into that trap. Get something new and swizzy, use it for a bit then park it.

So, I’ve moved the IC7300 off the desk for now and put in its place the FT817. Its not th easme rig by any stretch but it cleared some space so I could work on the zBitX case (and update the firmware), update the Morserino32 and now that BBC Longwave isn’t on I can move the Lowe HF-225 off the main desk. Its still next to me but not in prime position.

So its a summer of QRP for me and its coincided with some flat band conditions, so this makes it a biyt harder to get heard, but thats not a big deal for me. SWL’ing is still a favourite of mine.

Packet setup has been finialised and 2 loan units have been made up. So some productive shack time. This all points to an autumn of operating as whilst the weather is good I’m going outside!
